He, unfortunately, becomes a victim of the shootout, and Laura is captured. The night before the contest, she witnessed a gang-related shootout in a nightclub where she had gone with her boyfriend. Miss Bala follows the life of Laura, who wants to participate in a beauty contest. The movie was selected as the Mexican entry for the Best Foreign Film for the Oscars of 2011.
